Events 117

An event certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel meets ambitious environmental requirements and has taken a holistic approach to its environmental work. The event is reducing its consumption and optimizing its operations, as well as engaging their suppliers in environmental work.

The requirements include:

  • Limiting energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by implementing energy-efficient measures
  • Use of electricity and biofuel instead of fossil fuels
  • Reduction of climate impact from transportation
  • Use of cups with reduced environmental impact – and other disposable items meet strict requirements
  • Serving food with a reduced environmental footprint, including a variety of organic and vegetarian options
  • Reduction of consumption in general and stimulating reuse of decorations
  • Limitation of harmful and unwanted chemicals in general cleaning and dishwashing by using ecolabelled cleaning products
  • Involvement of staff and suppliers in the environmental work

The product group includes cultural events, such as concerts and theatre performances, exhibitions and festivals, corporate meetings, seminars and workshops – as well as trade fairs and conferences. In addition, political events such as debates are included – as well as sports events and tournaments.

    3. Start your application.

     

    If this is the first time you are applying, the authorized signatory must fill in your company information and approve the application conditions. In this way, you get login to the portal and the right to assign access to other colleagues.

    Application fee

    Application fee covers an event at one venue with max. two catering services and an inspection visit within the Nordics.

    Application fee for larger or several events and changes
    Hourly fee for time spent on extra case processing for larger events with more than one venue and/or two catering services, changes for an event or for several events from the same event organizer. An event organizer can certify several events in one license.

     

    Annual/event fee is based on number of guests at the event

    Guests are calculated as a total based on number of guests each day.
    Guests don't include volunteers, employees, artists, speakers, press etc.

    3 348 EUR. 50% discount on application fee, if event is at a Nordic Swan Ecolabelled hotel or conference venue.

    2 232 EUR/year. However, never less than 223 EUR for each event communicated in a year. If there are no events planned in a year, there is no fee charged.

    Ecolabelling Sweden AB has no financial profit purpose and is financed through the fees above along with an annual government grant. The company is however liable for VAT according to article 56 of the European Council Directive 2006/112/EC.

    Invoicing is made in SEK with the exchange rate from the first banking day of the year.

    When both the applicant and the manufacturer are micro-enterprises, the application fee is reduced by 50%. A micro-enterprise is in this context defined as an enterprise with less than 10 employees and an annual turnover (of both ecolabelled and not ecolabelled products) below 2 million EUR.
